Peaches in Retirement

Our long time and beloved resident corn snake, Peaches, has retired. She is living at Peace Pets, an animal care facility in Santa Fe. Her retirement from SFCM is a teachable moment for you and your family.

In the wild, corn snakes live to be 6 to 8 years old. She is 16 years old.

• Because she is so old, Peaches needs to be someplace more quiet and comfortable. Many of our grandmas and grandpas changed houses when they were older.
• Talk to your child about Peaches and encourage him or her to share good memories and thoughts.
• Your child may ask many questions- do your best to answer them. Remember there is no right or wrong answer; just use your experiences and your feelings.
• Give your child words: "I miss Peaches. I am sad. I feel..."
