Kids at Heart Evenings at El Farol: December 19-21

Be Aware. Build Community. Support Education & SFCM.

El Farol, Hutton Broadcasting, and SFCM present three special nights of music, dancing, food, libations, and fun at El Farol. 100% of ticket sales go directly to support the museum’s educational programs.

These evening events are part of SFCM's new Kids at Heart series, affordable and meaningful FUNdraising events to increase awareness about the educational needs of children and youth in New Mexico, build community, and support the museum's mission to inspire a lifelong passion for learning.

El Farol is located at 808 Canyon Road, Santa Fe, 87501.

Monday, December 19: 6-8 p.m.

A special evening for SFCM member families and to benefit art programs at SFCM.

Tickets: $15 per adult; children are free! Hands-on art projects and activities provided.

6:00 – Raffle and Dinner. Prefix menu of New Mexico cuisine, with kid-friendly options, for $14.95 per person; regular dinner menu also available. Prefix menu includes: bonito burrito, chicken or beef enchiladas, shrimp tacos, and burgers.

7:00 – Performance by the New Mexico School for the Arts followed by singer Martha Reich

Martha has performed at some of the most respected venues in New Mexico, and also tours throughout the country and internationally as a solo performer. Her most recent CD, "Evidence of Life," was nominated for best album by The New Mexico Museum Awards. Also from that CD, "Peter Pan Says," was nominated for Best Song in the Americana category. She was selected as a finalist at the 2006 New Mexico State Fair Talent Showcase, and had two songs chosen as finalists for the ISC in 2007. Martha was chosen to perform at "The Sedona Jam for Emerging Artists Festival," in 2007, and opened for Kate Macleod at "The OUTPOST" Performance Space in NM. She was one of hundreds of performers from the country to perform at the "Santa Fe Bandstand" in summer 2009.

Tuesday, December 20: 6-8:30 p.m.

An evening to benefit literacy programs at SFCM created in partnership with Youth Media Project.*

Tickets: $25 per adult

6:00 – Raffle and Dinner. Prefix menu for $35 per person; regular menu also available. Prefix menu includes choice of posole clam chowder or pear salad, and choice of ribeye, scallops, or chicken.

7:30 – Performance by Canyon Road Blues Jam, with special guest Sister Mary

The Canyon Road Blues Band is Tiho Dimitrov, guitar and vocals; Brant Leeper, keyboard and vocals; Mike Chavez, drums; and Tone Forrest, bass and emcee.

*Youth Media Project is a nonprofit organization in Santa Fe that teaches and practices the craft of digital storytelling for a socially responsible world.

Wednesday, December 21: 6-8:30 p.m.

An evening to benefit science programs at SFCM.

Tickets: $25 per adult

7:30 – Performance by Sky Redhawk and Ken Estrada

Sky Redhawk on Native Flute, native drums and rattles, and Ken Estrada on guitar, native drums and rattles. Sky Redhawk and Ken Estrada have been performing in Santa Fe for over a decade. Their recent film "Forgotten Warriors" made its debut at the Santa Fe Film Festival in 2006 and is currently making its way across the country. Native Spirits is a contemporary native duo creating beautiful melodic and at time hypnotic music designed to open your consciousness to the Great Spirit.
