WEDNESDAY

Wee Wednesday!

Join us for bi-lingual preschool stories, songs and games.

Open Art Studio

Each week we will work with a local artist to explore the world of art using everything from acrylics to pastel, watercolor to blocks and glue.

This program is made possible in part by New Mexico Arts, a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Preschool Prime Time
Programs designed specifically for children ages 0-5
Pre-school literacy and reading readiness program, and a special time for our youngest visitors, ages 0-5 and their families. Join one of our Educators for this special time of fun and exploration.

"Try It" Thursday

Mini Makers

Each week we will make something from basic materials or recycled items with educator India. Learn how make your ideas come to life with basic construction techniques. This program is appropriate for all ages.

Cornelius Hour
Meet our resident corn snake Cornelius and watch him eat his weekly mouse.

Drama Club
Become part of our improvisation group and play theater games. Facilitated by Educator Hania, we'll start right on time with a welcoming activity and build upon our skills during this hour.

Jewelry Making Club

Try different jewelry techniques and take home your own treasures. Bring old jewelry to recycle into something new.

SPRING BREAK CAMP!

SFCM Global Chefs Spring Break Camp!
April 7 - 11, 2014
9:00am - 4:00pm
(extended care 8:00am - 5:30pm)
1st to 3rd Grade
$245 for members; $265 for non-members

Campers will learn about, cook and taste foods from around the world and prepare our daily afternoon snack. We'll use our classroom kitchen as our laboratory and enjoy plenty of play in the museum and our one acre outdoor exhibits and garden.

Pre-registration required. Maximum 18 campers.

Pre-K & K (Ages 4 and 5)

Campers will enjoy activities and complete innovative hands-on projects based upon inspired weekly themes. Daily schedule includes exploration time in the museum, our one acre outdoor exhibits and private camp spaces.

June 9-13

Pre-K & K: Mixed Media Art

Sculpture, clay, watercolor, acrylics, and recyclable materials… we'll explore it all during this week of colorful creativity and art making.

1st-3rd: Mixed Media Art

Campers will create wearable art pieces, using various techniques including, felting, knitting, sewing, and screen printing.
Note: Both age groups will present and celebrate their work at a Friday Art Show open to parents and SFCM visitors!

June 16-20

Pre-K & K: Monsters, Fairies, & Wizards

A week of dramatic play, action, art, and fairy tale fun! We'll use our imaginations and existing legends to travel to magical and exciting lands, enjoying dress-up, face painting, story-telling and story-making as we fight dragons, make wishes, and live Happily Ever After.

1st-3rd: Gardens & Gnomes

Gnomes like a happy garden! We'll use international folklore and legends to explore and inhabit the worlds of enchanting creatures and cultures. We'll create box planters and begin our summer gardening after researching plants and flowers to attract magical creatures. Campers will be able to watch their garden grow in the Earthworks space as they visit throughout the summer.

June 23-27

Pre-K & K: Music & Movement

Dance and music come together in this exciting camp through movement, art, and musical instrument exploration. Campers will learn to move their bodies to the beats of African drumming, salsa, yoga and a variety of other dance and movement styles.

1st-3rd: Live from Broadway!

Buy your tickets now! Theater and art come together
in this popular and exciting camp through acting, movement, poetry, art, and design culminating in a Friday afternoon show.

June 30- July 4

July 7-11

Pre-K & K: Design & Build

Pre-K/K will transform their camp space by creating their own large-scale village and play area, complete with fortresses, bridges, dragons, and more.


1st-3rd: Design & Build

1st-3rd will incorporate engineering, imagination, and problem solving to prototype and build robots, video game components, rockets, and plenty more hands on projects.

July 14-18

Pre-K & K: Planes, Trains, & Automobiles

It's a bird! No, it's a plane! Campers will delve into the exciting world of things that go! We'll create projects that fly, move, and drive such as matchbox cars, paper and foam airplanes, rockets, and explore heavy equipment, trains, and more. We'll hop on board a real fire truck and create scenery for our mobile creations.

1st-3rd: Crack the Case

Campers will harness their skills of observation, learn to ask the right questions, look closely for answers, write and solve timeless riddles, and understand what it means to "crack the case" by becoming detectives and solving a week-long case!

July 21-25

Pre-K & K: Sow & Saute

Campers will harvest from our gardens half of their time and learn about food and cultures from around the world the other half. We'll make our own snacks and learn to enjoy many different types of food and flavors. Children will take home a cookbook full of deliciousness.

1st-3rd: Sow & Saute
